Is yojana ka uddeshya gramin yuvaon ko (15 se 35 saal ki umra) professional training dekar unhe rojgar ke layak banana hai. DDU-GKY ki sabse badi khasiyat ye hai ki ye bilkul FREE hai. Isme na sirf training free milti hai, balki rehne (Lodging), khane (Boarding), uniform aur books ka kharcha bhi sarkar uthati hai. Training sectors bahut divers hain, jaise IT, Healthcare, Hospitality, Retail, Automotive, aur Construction. Training poori hone ke baad, sarkar ye ensure karti hai ki kam se kam 75% bacchon ko placement (Naukri) mile. Is scheme ka focus 'Rural Poor' par hai, khaas kar SC/ST aur Minorities par. DDU-GKY yuvaon ko sirf technical skills hi nahi sikhata, balki Soft Skills, Computer literacy aur English speaking ki bhi training deta hai taaki woh corporate environment mein set ho sakein. Har mahine bacche ke bank account mein tablet ya phone kharidne ya anya kharchon ke liye kuch amount bhi bheja jata hai. Job lagne ke baad bhi, post-placement support diya jata hai taaki baccha naye shehar mein adjust ho sake. International placements ka bhi pravdhan hai agar baccha kaafi talented ho. Is yojana ne lakhon parivaron ko garibi se nikalne mein madad ki hai kyunki ek bacche ki naukri pure parivar ki arthik sthiti badal deti hai.
