📌 About This Scheme
Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is a safe motherhood intervention under the National Health Mission (NHM). Iska main objective garib aur kamzor varg ki mahilaon ko hospital mein delivery (Institutional Delivery) karwane ke liye protsahit karna hai. Pehle ke samay mein log ghar par hi delivery karate the, jisse matritva mrityu (Maternal Mortality) aur shishu mrityu (Infant Mortality) ka khatra bahut zyada rehta tha. JSY isi khatre ko kam karta hai. Scheme ke tehat rural areas mein rehne wali pregnant women ko ₹1,400 aur urban areas mein ₹1,000 ki financial help di jati hai. Iske saath hi ASHA workers ko bhi incentive milta hai jo pregnant women ko hospital tak lane mein madad karti hain. JSY is particularly focused on Low Performing States (LPS) where institutional delivery rates are low. Delivery ke samay hone wala kharcha garib parivaron par bojh na bane, isliye ye paisa diya jata hai. Mother and Child Protection (MCP) card ke zariye har ek checkup ka record rakha jata hai. Is yojana ne bharat mein health systems ko sudharne mein bahut badi bhumika nibhayi hai. Safe motherhood ka matlab sirf hospital mein delivery nahi hai, balki delivery se pehle aur baad ki care bhi hai. JSY ensures that every poor pregnant woman gets access to basic medical facilities. The cash incentive is credited directly to the bank account through DBT to ensure transparency. Over the years, this scheme has significantly contributed to the reduction of maternal deaths in India. It empowers women to take decisions regarding their health and ensures that money is not a barrier to safe delivery. JSY is integrated with other programs like JSSK to provide a complete package of healthcare services to mothers and newborns.
