National Means Cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) is a central sector scheme that aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections. Iska mukhya uddeshya hai 'Drop-out' rate ko kam karna, khaas kar 8th class ke baad jab bahut se bacche paison ki kami ki wajah se padhai chhod dete hain. Selected students ko ₹12,000 saalana (₹1,000 per month) ki scholarship di jati hai Class 9 se lekar Class 12 tak. Scholarship milne ke liye bacche ko ek state-level competitive exam pass karna hota hai jisme Mental Ability Test (MAT) aur Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) shamil hote hain. Ye yojana sirf un bacchon ke liye hai jo sarkari (Government) ya government-aided schools mein padh rahe hain. Parivar ki varshik aay (Annual Income) ₹3.50 lakh se zyada nahi honi chahiye. Scholarship ka paisa seedha bacche ke bank account mein DBT ke zariye aata hai. Is yojana ne lakhon bacchon ko higher education poori karne ka hausla diya hai. Merit list mein aane ke baad bhi, scholarship ko har saal renew karna padta hai jiske liye bacche ka agle class mein pass hona aur achhe marks lana zaroori hai. NMMS helps in identifying young talent at an early stage and nurturing them throughout their secondary education. Education ministry iska pura kharcha uthati hai. Isme SC/ST aur physically challenged students ke liye arakshan (Reservation) ke niyam bhi lagu hote hain. Is scholarship ki wajah se garib parivaron ke bacchon ko coaching aur books kharidne mein bahut madad milti hai. Competition ka mahool bacchon mein padhai ke prati ruchi (interest) paida karta hai.
