11 min readSarkari Afsar Editorial

Jab ek candidate pehli baar koi Central Government job (SSC CGL Inspector, UDC ya LDC) join karta hai, to use bataya jata hai ki uski Gross Salary ₹80,000 banegi. Lekin jab mahine ke aakhiri din bank account me message aata hai, to wahan sirf ₹68,000 credit hote hain. Candidate tension me aa jata hai ki uske bache hue ₹12,000 kahan gayab ho gaye! Govt salary format kaafi transparent hota hai, lekin isme kayi aisi statutory deductions (katoutiyan) hoti hain jinke bare me common knowledge nahi hoti. Kuch deductions aapki hi long-term savings hain (jaise NPS), aur kuch welfare schemes ka premium hain. Is deeply structured guide me hum ek typical Central Government Employee ki salary slip ka post-mortem karenge. Hum dekhenge ki NPS, CGHS, CGEGIS, Professional Tax, aur Income Tax (TDS) actually aapki base salary ka kitna percentage swallow (kha) jate hain.

1. The Big Chunk: NPS (National Pension System) Tier-1

Salary slip me sabse bada deduction NPS ka hota hai. Ye koi tax nahi hai, ye aapki khud ki retirement saving hai. Rule ke hisab se, aapki (Basic Pay + Dearness Allowance) ka thik 10% amount har mahine kaat liya jata hai aur aapke PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) account me daal diya jata hai.

Achi baat ye hai ki isme Central Government apni taraf se aapki base ka 14% aur add karti hai. Yani agar aapki salary se ₹5,000 kate hain, to sarkar ₹7,000 milakar total ₹12,000 aapke mutual funds/pension trust me invest karti hai. Ye amount purely Tax Free (80CCD) limit ke andar aata hai.

2. CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) Premium

  • Central Government employees aur unki dependent families ko CGHS dispensaries aur private empanelled hospitals me cashless treatment (world-class facilities) milti hai.
  • Ye free nahi hota. Is facility ke liye Pay Level ke hisab se ek fixed monthly amount kata jata hai.
  • Level 1 to 5 (LDC/Auditor): ₹250 per month.
  • Level 6 (Station Master/ASO): ₹450 per month.
  • Level 7 to 11 (Inspectors/Officers): ₹650 per month.
  • Level 12 & Above: ₹1000 per month. (Ye rate health policy updates ke sath fluctuate hote hain).

3. CGEGIS (Central Govt Employees Group Insurance Scheme)

CGEGIS ek prakar ki Life Insurance aur Savings ka combination hai jo sarkari karmchariyon ke liye mandatory hai. Ye death in service ki situation me family ko ek lump-sum cover deta hai aur retirement par bacha hua saving fund (with interest) wapas kar deta hai.

Iska deduction category wise hota hai. Group A officers se usually ₹120 per month, Group B (Inspectors/ASOs) se ₹60 per month, aur Group C staff se ₹30 per month kaata jata hai. Halanki 7th CPC ke baad is amount ko badhane ke proposals the, but currently deduct hone wala premium yahi basic amounts me dikhta hai.

4. Tax Deductions: TDS And Professional Tax

TDS (Income Tax): Agar aapki yearly taxable income (sab deductions hatakar) 7 Lakh rupaye (nayi tax regime ke mutabiq) cross karti hai, to aapka DDO (Drawing and Disbursing Officer) pehle mahine se hi average basis par Income Tax (TDS) kaatna shuru kar dega. Inspector level jobs me ₹2,000 se ₹5,000 tak ka monthly TDS cut common hai.

Professional Tax (State Tax): Ye tax Central Govt nahi, balki us state ki government kaat-ti hai jahan aap posted hain. Maharashtra, West Bengal, aur Tamil Nadu jaise states employment par 'Professional Tax' lagate hain jo lagbhag ₹200 se ₹250 per month hota hai. North India ke kuch states (jaise Delhi, Haryana) me ye tax nahi lagta.

5. Quarter License Fee (Agar Govt Awas Liya Hai)

Pichle deductions mandatory the. Lekin agar aapne government quarter allot karwa liya hai, to aapki salary me pehle to HRA judna (add hona) band ho jayega. Upar se aapke Basic Pay me se ek choti si 'License Fee' (kiraya), Water charges aur CGEWCC (Welfare fund) ka charge kata jayega. Ye ₹300 se ₹1000 ke beech aata hai size of flat ke according.
